German Psychic Provides Potential Burial Site Leads in Madeleine McCann Case

Police are investigating new claims by a German psychic who alleges that the remains of Madeleine McCann are buried in a wooded area just six miles from the Portuguese resort where she vanished in 2007. Michael Schneider, a 50-year-old former television journalist, claims to have provided the German Federal Criminal Police Office with the precise coordinates of the burial site.

Schneider has gained attention in law enforcement circles due to his recent success in locating missing persons. Senior Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters has confirmed that the German authorities are aware of the information, noting that officials have utilized various methods throughout the long-running investigation. While the prospect of such findings is distressing to the public and particularly to Madeleine’s parents, who marked her 18th birthday by pledging to never abandon the search, officials have maintained a policy of vetting all leads, including those from unconventional sources.

The disappearance of the three-year-old girl from Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007, remains one of the most high-profile missing persons cases in history. Following the initial Portuguese investigation, Scotland Yard launched Operation Grange in 2011 to review the case. Currently, investigators are focusing on a 44-year-old German national, Christian Bruckner, as the primary suspect in her abduction and murder.
