Pit Bull Saves Baby From Fire
The presence of a dog near a small, helpless baby can be a cause for concern for some individuals, particularly with certain dog breeds that have a reputation for being “aggressive.” Pit bull dogs likely top this list, as they are frequently perceived as unpredictable and at times dangerous. However, one mother in California owes her and her baby’s lives to her pet pit bull. Mom Latana Chai states that her baby Masailah and her pet dog Sasha were born just days apart and are inseparable, sharing a bed and even bath time. Their bond, however, was destined to become even stronger when a fire erupted in their neighbor’s home. It was around midnight one Saturday when Latana noticed Sasha acting very unusually. “I heard something like a loud bang, and I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ I heard Sasha crying, and she kept jumping at the door. As soon as I got to the door, she ran in and started barking,” Latana recounted, as reported by Kare 11. Upon opening the door to let Sasha in, the dog ran to Masailah’s room.
Latana then noticed black smoke emerging from the ceiling, indicating a fire spreading from their neighbor’s house to theirs. Mom Latana quickly hurried to her baby’s room and discovered Sasha grabbing Masailah by her diaper and pulling her to safety. The family attributes their safety to Sasha’s early warning barks.
