After a comprehensive evaluation and consultation with BI medical staff, it was determined that while immediate hospitalization was not deemed critical at that precise moment, close medical monitoring and specific treatments were indeed necessary due to his reported weakening condition. Acknowledging the family’s concerns and the medical team’s recommendations, the BI agreed to transfer Mr. Duterte to a secure medical facility within Metro Manila. This facility, while not a general public hospital, was equipped to provide the required level of medical care under secure conditions, ensuring both his well-being and the continuation of the legal processes related to the outstanding warrant.
A spokesperson for the Bureau of Immigration released a statement later that evening, clarifying the situation.
