A Horn Like a Rhino’s

2. Dear reader, you will find the video farther down this page. Acne, also called acne vulgaris, is a persistent skin disorder in which oil and dead skin cells accumulate and block hair follicles. Common signs include whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, an oily complexion, and sometimes scars. Areas with many oil-producing glands are most often affected, particularly the face, upper chest, and back. These visible changes may undermine confidence, cause anxiety and low self-esteem, and, in severe instances, contribute to depression.

Genetic factors primarily account for susceptibility to acne in 80% of cases. How diet and cigarette smoking influence the condition remains uncertain; neither cleanliness nor sunlight exposure is associated with acne. In both males and females, hormones known as androgens appear to contribute to the underlying process by stimulating greater sebum production. Excessive multiplication of Cutibacterium acnes, a bacterium found on the skin, is another common contributing factor.
