Dog Mom & Pups Abandoned in Basket
My heart shatters into a million pieces every time I see a helpless dog fending for itself. But, to witness an entire canine family struggling is simply beyond words! According to USA Today, approximately 10 million dogs pass over the rainbow bridge each year due to abuse, neglect, or cruelty. This heartbreaking statistic becomes even more brutal when experienced firsthand, offering a stark reality of the immense challenges faced by animal rescuers. One such poignant story originates from California. A mother dog, with her puppies in a basket… mere days away from facing the inevitable! A Sorrowful Sight A compassionate worker from an industrial area discovered a mother dog and her three young pups in a small plastic basket. Tied together and abandoned in one location, the dogs had nowhere to go.
They had clearly been deserted by their former owner, left to the mercy of the streets. They were provided with absolutely no food or shelter. In that moment, all they had was each other’s company. The individual immediately contacted Suzette Hall, a seasoned rescuer with Logan’s Legacy, from Irvine, California. “I literally couldn’t believe it when I pulled up.
Tied together in an industrial area. Literally dumped. Did they actually think they would survive out there,” Hall posted on her Facebook. Throughout her years of rescuing dogs from various predicaments, Hall has encountered many heartbreaking narratives. However, this particular situation was utterly devastating! This kind woman immediately sprang into action and rushed to rescue the canine family from the basket.
To her surprise, the dogs showed no signs of aggression whatsoever! Having been let down by their previous owner, one might have expected them to be enraged or fearful. Instead, they proved to be incredibly sweethearts! They were simply overjoyed to see someone extending a friendly hand. The mother dog even began wagging her tail as Hall approached and spoke to her in a gentle, warm tone. “Mama was wiggling her tail that I had come. I see the little eyes looking up at me from inside the basket,” Hall wrote.
Off To A Better Life After gently lifting them from the ground, Hall began guiding these furry beauties towards a better life! However, the initial stages of their journey were far from glamorous. Their ordeal had taken a toll on their health. In addition to ticks from living outdoors, the mother dog was experiencing diarrhea and vomiting. “Poor mama has diarrhea and throwing up. The puppies and mama are covered in ticks.
We need to run a lot of test for this little family,” Hall added. For the time being, the family will receive medical care from the team at Camino Pet Hospital, Irvine, California, until they have fully recovered. Once their condition improves and they are finally ready to embark on a new chapter, the puppies will be searching for a forever home! Hopefully, their exciting new adventure awaits them just around the corner. They truly deserve it!
