I once had to call a plumber to fix a clog
I once had to call a plumber to fix a clog. Instead of picking the toilet bowl, he lit a match and threw it in. I was shocked by that action. But he told me everything.
I started to worry about a bad odour in the bathroom. I tried everything: strong cleaners, all kinds of fragrances, general cleaning. But all to no avail. In desperation I had to call a plumber.
The master was elderly, it is obvious that with considerable experience. Attentively with a serious face he listened to my lamentations, calmly took out of his pocket a box of matches, lit one and threw it into the toilet. I was speechless.
Looking at my stunned expression, the master calmly explained that the sulphur on the match can neutralise unpleasant odours. You just need to set it on fire, wait a few seconds and throw it into the water in the toilet.
Together with the sulphur smoke the unpleasant odour will go away. And indeed, that’s what happened. Now I no longer suffer from unpleasant odour in the bathroom. Now I always have a box of matches handy.
But I’ve found a few more effective ways. Ground coffee and its beans have the same adsorption property. You just need to pour them into a jar and leave them in the bathroom. A cheaper remedy is baking soda and vinegar. They eliminate odours coming from the pipes. You just need to pour 1 tbsp of baking soda into them and pour 0.5 tbsp of vinegar. Soak for 10 minutes and rinse with hot water.
You can also use essential oils. Lemon, peppermint, lavender are good for refreshment
