In the caption of the video, she opened up about how Guy first came into her life. In 2015, she adopted Guy, from a kill shelter, County Animal Shelter, in Kentucky, where he was facing only a few days to live.
The Duchess noted, “I swooped him up….and fell in love,” adding, “They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy.’ And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

Meghan recalled how Guy had been with her through every chapter of her life. She reminisced about his presence during her time on the legal series “Suits,” her engagement and wedding to Prince Harry, and even as she stepped into motherhood. The Duchess is a mom to Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.
Guy, she noted, was always by her side, sharing in all her milestones and joys. “The quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort,” Meghan divulged.

The 43-year-old also narrated the sad health issues Guy endured shortly before her move to the UK. After a terrible accident, he underwent multiple surgeries and was confined to a clinic for months. Doctors doubted Guy would ever walk again. However, Meghan said that with the care of Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick, his team, and her late-night visits to Surrey with Harry, Guy made an incredible recovery.
She gave deep gratitude to Noel, Queen West Animal Hospital in Toronto, her current vets, and her supportive community for their unwavering care for Guy during his challenging journey. “Thank you for loving him so,” she gushed.

Meghan shared that she decided to go public with the news of Guy’s passing because he will appear in her upcoming Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.” She added, ” I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too.”
Her grief, as profound as her love for Guy, was evident as Meghan wrote, “I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”

Guy lived an eventful life with Meghan Markle. His journey is traced back from the kill shelter, County Animal Shelter in Kentucky to Ontario’s, A Dog’s Dream Rescue, where Meghan first met him.
According to Dolores Doherty, the founder, and owner of A Dog’s Dream Rescue, County Animal Shelter reached out to them to see if they could adopt Guy and they readily took the beagle in.
Dolores, who started the rescue in 2010, then received an email from Meghan a few weeks after they took in Guy. Meghan discovered the rescue through Petfinder and reached out, requesting to adopt a beagle. She noted that with the breed’s energetic and gentle nature, it would be a perfect fit for her.
Dolores then sent her an adoption application, which Meghan quickly filled out and returned it just 10 minutes later. She was impressed by Meghan’s quick response, which she rarely witnessed. Hence, Dolores felt Meghan’s genuine interest in adopting and invited her to an upcoming adoption event at a local pet store.
