Hollywood couple Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone have been married for 18 years and are still going strong.
Despite harsh criticism about his beloved wife’s weight, Falcone deems himself a “lucky fella.”
McCarthy, who has responded to the negative words about her, found her happiness and support system with Falcone and their two children.
Melissa McCarthy, 53, is revered as a comedic icon in Hollywood. In every acting credit she has garnered, she has never failed to light up the screen and delight fans with her unparalleled sense of humor and comedic chops.
More than just a star on camera, McCarthy is also well known for her charismatic and spunky attitude, which sees her living unapologetically. In fact, when it comes to Hollywood notions such as Tinseltown stars having to adhere to unrealistic standards of beauty and lifestyles, McCarthy has always marched to the beat of her own drum.
In a previous interview, the “Bridesmaids” star spoke about how she has embraced getting older. When she reached her 40s, the kind-natured and mindful celebrity was unfazed about aging, “Being in my 40s is such a great relief. I know myself better than I ever have. I don’t worry about what the perception is. There’s always going to be people that don’t like something you’re doing…”
McCarthy accredited, in part, her ability to brush off nasty comments directed toward her with growing wiser the older she gets. For the actress, when it comes to success, she believes that one should not be focused on attempting to achieve perfection, “I’ve always said, ‘You don’t have to be perfect to be exceptional.’”
When it comes to outside pressure to be and look the best, the fierce and confident performer is no stranger to being at the center of vitriol. McCarthy has long dealt with harsh comments about how she looks, specifically about her weight.
However, far from being saddened or angered by what has been said, McCarthy takes it in stride and says she feels bad for people consumed by hate, as she said that it must mean they are in an awful place in their lives.
Instead of allowing herself to be affected by the hate, McCarthy focuses on who and what makes her happy: her loving husband of 18 years, fellow comedic actor Ben Falcone, and their two daughters, “I laugh my head off every day with my husband and my kids who are mooning me and singing me songs…”
McCarthy and her loving spouse officially met at The Groundlings theatre over two decades ago and are still going strong all these years later. She said a performance of Falcone’s intrigued her, and while she thought to herself that he was quirky and strange, she knew she liked him.
While gushing over Falcone in a previous interview, McCarthy highlighted his immense kindness and her gratitude for him being a great and strong presence in their daughters’ lives.
In addition to listing Falcone’s winning qualities that make him an amazing husband, McCarthy noted the importance of finding someone who brings out the best in a person, which is what Falcone does for her. Swooning over her spouse, she gushed, “He makes me gut-laugh, like crazy gut-laugh, four or five times a day. I hit the jackpot!”
Laughter, acceptance, positivity, fun, and the ability not to take themselves too seriously are fundamental pillars within the couple’s household. Falcone and McCarthy may be big stars, but the two are also extremely down to earth.
How they celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary is a testament to this, “We had a very romantic evening at our house…and we just ate hamburgers…and…I gave him a…it’s the phone for senior citizens…” the actress said.
Falcone, who gifted his wife beautiful rings in exchange for the senior citizen’s phone she gave him, adores McCarthy immensely and thinks the world and more of her.
Two years ago, on her birthday, he took to his Instagram to post a throwback picture of the two of them at a friend’s wedding and of his beloved wife. He boasted, “I’m such a lucky fella to be married to someone so smart, kind, beautiful, and crazy funny. Happy birthday Mooch, love you!”
Falcone’s funny, and beautiful wife is also a doting mama bear to her beloved daughters, Vivian and Georgette. Vivian was born in May 2007, while her little sister was born in 2010.
Having instilled and solidified the right values in her kids, McCarthy also spoke about their ability to stand up for themselves and know right from wrong.
After McCarthy gave birth to her second-born, the “Tammy” talent got candid about what the journey of motherhood looked like for her. Far from labeling herself as one of those women who go on about what a miracle birth is and how joyous becoming a mother is, McCarthy admitted she was not a good pregnant woman and was exhausted.
However, a lot of her exhaustion stemmed from the fact that she was unable to get a wink of sleep due to her hectic work schedule, previously citing her many ongoing projects at the time. She also discussed being her journey to losing weight after she had given birth to Georgette, as shewas heavier than she wanted to be.
Though she wanted to lose weight, she wanted to do so for the sake of being healthier, not for Tinseltown’s beauty standards. As someone prevalently aware of the damaging effects Hollywood’s notion of beauty has on women, McCarthy makes it an avid priority to ensure her girls are focused on the right things, like being themselves.
Vivian and Georgette have been raised by their strong mom to be kind, self-assured, and responsible. Both McCarthy and Falcone make it a point to keep the lines of communication open between them and their children at all times.
Now that they are in their teenage years, Vivian and Georgette’s mom and dad keep a super vigilant eye on them, especially as it pertains to social media.
In an interview she did a few months ago, McCarthy mentioned some words of wisdom she continuously shares with them, “We’re always kind of reminding them, ‘Keep this in perspective. This is not real.’ I keep saying this is smoke and mirrors and entertainment…”
McCarthy admitted to being a little on the stricter side when it comes to raising her daughters. However, the parents have a good balance of focusing on vital priorities and having fun.
As far as the question goes of whether Vivian and her little sister have plans to follow in their parents’ acting footsteps, McCarthy says though she can see it happening, citing their creative traits, she would never push them into it. Instead of forcing them, McCarthy wants her daughters to follow their hearts and go for what they desire.
Having instilled and solidified the right values in her kids, McCarthy also spoke about their ability to stand up for themselves and know right from wrong.
Though she said she wouldn’t allow herself to admit that there will come a day when her babies will leave their nest, the actress is confident that her girls will be successful and take the world by storm in whatever they do.
