Mariska Hargitay’s Parents Were Famous Actors Who Died When She Was 3

Mariska Hargitay is someone who has become well-known as an actor in today’s world. Many people know her for what she has done in Hollywood, but they may not realize that she has an interesting past as well.

Unfortunately, when Mariska was only three years old, she was in a car with her mother when the car crashed and killed the mother instantly. That was in 1967 and her famous mother is Jean Mansfield.

Fortunately, Mariska was able to survive the accident she went on to follow in her mother’s footsteps. In fact, she resembles her mother in many ways.

When Jane Mansfield was famous back in the 1950s and 1960s, she was in a number of blockbuster films. She was sometimes referred to as the poor man’s Marilyn Monroe because she wasn’t offered the cream of the crop, and she was just considered to be a ‘dumb blonde.’

Unfortunately, when she died in 1967, she left behind five children but those kids are working hard these days to keep her legacy alive. This includes Mariska Hargitay, who does look a lot like her mother.

Jayne Mansfield was born Vera Jane Palmer in 1933. She was born in Pennsylvania and began to learn the violin from her father, Hubert, at a young age.

When she was only three years old, her father died of a heart attack while they were traveling. Her mother had been a schoolteacher and had to go back to work to raise the family. She said that her earliest memories are the best and she always tries to remember when her father was alive.

Eventually, she would grow up trying to get to Hollywood and would move to Los Angeles. She wasn’t even a high school graduate when she married Paul Mansfield in 1950.

It wasn’t easy to break into the acting profession but when she started her modeling career, it wasn’t long before a lot of attention was in her direction. Casting directors liked the voluptuous look, but she couldn’t be in advertising because she was too seductive for it.

She still struggled to find work but eventually, she had the opportunity to work for Paramount and Warner Bros. She auditioned for both of them, despite the fact that they didn’t want her but she was given an opportunity by the head of casting, Milton Lewis.

In her heart, she wanted to be a competition for Marilyn Monroe who was the biggest and brightest in Hollywood at the time. Eventually, she landed some roles in low-budget films that gave her a lot of exposure, and she was also named Playmate of the Month in 1955.

This was what really led to her success and she became more than an actress, she became one of the biggest sex symbols of the day. One journalist even said that she had so many on-stage strap and zipper mishaps that nudity was a professional hazard for her.

Eventually, she went on to play in some movies with bigger names, including Too Hot to Handle. This is when she went to court in a battle against censorship. She appeared nude in a scandalous dress, and they delayed the release of the film.

She continued to work in the early 60s and became the first movie star in America to appear nude on screen. Eventually, they would censor the scene and it was banned worldwide.

In 1967, Don Arden, a music manager sent her on tour. She was performing in Bentley, and people were very happy.

After her tour in the UK, she was back in the United States and driving between Mississippi and New Orleans when she was killed in a car accident. At 34 years of age, she was dead after her vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer.

She died, along with her boyfriend Sam Brody and the driver. She was buried in Pennsylvania beside her father.

Three of her children were asleep in the backseat and they were not harmed. Her 3-year-old daughter, Mariska, moved to be with her father.

Mariska continued to pursue an acting career and has done quite well in it. She said that losing her mother at such a young age left a scar on her soul but we are so happy that she has been carrying the torch in such a beautiful way.
