My Fiancé’s Secret Guest

**MY FIANCÉ SAID HE WAS ALONE BUT A WOMAN WAS IN HIS APARTMENT DRINKING COFFEE**

The hallway outside his door felt suddenly cold, my hand shaking violently as I raised it to knock, wondering why he wasn’t answering my texts. I heard muffled voices through the thick wood, low murmurs I couldn’t quite make out over the frantic pounding in my chest, the sound deafening in the sudden silence.

“Who is that?” I managed to choke out, my voice barely a whisper, catching a faint, sweet scent of unfamiliar perfume wafting past him from inside the apartment. He stammered something about a friend just stopping by incredibly quickly, just for a second, avoiding my gaze completely.

I pushed the door open wider myself, stepping past him into the apartment. She was there on his couch, perfectly calm, sipping from a mug. The air inside felt thick with unspoken things. My eyes scanned the room – two mugs on the coffee table, her bag by the door.

“Jenny, this is… Jessica,” he said, but his eyes absolutely wouldn’t meet mine. My mind raced, desperately trying to piece together who this stranger was, why she was here when he swore he was alone.

Jessica stepped forward, holding a key identical to the one I had.

**My Immediate Reaction to the Cliffhanger**

Okay, so I’m looking at this story, and that ending… Jessica holding up the key? Identical to Jenny’s? It screams trouble. My initial thought is, this changes everything. We’re not dealing with a casual friend anymore; this is significant. The whole point now is to understand *why* Jessica has that key and what it means for Mark and Jenny’s relationship.

The whole point is a “normal” conclusion here, which, given the cheating setup, probably means the relationship blows up. I have to think about what the most believable reveal is here. It can’t be some minor relative or platonic friendship. The key’s too strong. So, my gut says this is a cheating scenario. He’s got someone else.

My plan has to be to pick up right where we left off. I’ve got to have Jessica explain. Mark’s reaction will be the real test. What does he say? Is he trapped? The question of what Jenny does in response to that revelation is the most crucial part. The ending needs to provide that sense of closure. I’m thinking a breakup – Jenny walks away from the engagement. That feels satisfyingly “normal” given the context.
