A woman has shared a photo that captures the last
A woman has shared a photo that captures the last moments of her granddaughter’s life shortly before the three-year-old’s tragic death. According to horrifying reports, Scarlett Jensen was killed in a hit-and-run accident on 7 October 2022. Along with her two-year-old brother Henry, she was in the care of her grandmother as her mother, Samantha Jensen, and father were out of town for a wedding. However, when the three of them were walking along the family’s private road in Oldtown, Idaho, something unthinkable happened. My mother was waving her arms, screaming for him to stop and trying to grab my children to get them out of the way, but he was going too fast,” Samantha Jensen recalled, “Scarlett died almost instantly and my mother and Henry were severely injured. The suspect driving the Chevy fled the scene on foot, but was eventually apprehended a few miles from the scene. Henry was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital where he was found to have a fractured spine, six broken ribs, a broken jaw, a broken collarbone, a lacerated liver and several other injuries,” Samantha told PEOPLE. – ‘My mum had a few fractures but she was able to be discharged from hospital.’ She added: “Henry spent a week in intensive care before his condition was stable enough to go home and he wore a full body bandage for 10 weeks. “In the weeks that followed, the family were wracked with grief, but there was one small moment when Samantha found a seemingly innocuous photo of Scarlett taken by her mum shortly before her death. Some are naturally harder than others, but the family is doing their best to cope with the immense grief. “Some days I feel like I’m drowning and some days I feel like I’m managing to stay on the water,” she told PEOPLE. “My whole family does a lot of therapy and tries to heal as much as possible. My faith in the Lord has saved my life and helped me a lot on the road to healing.” At first, the devastated mother found it difficult to look at the last picture of her baby girl. However, two years after her death, Samantha realised the image was a testament to a beautiful life. “I am so incredibly grateful to have this photograph,” she told PEOPLE. “It captures the peacefulness of her last moments, the beauty she was surrounded by as she took her last breaths. I have forever captured her happy and carefree, picking flowers with her best friend and mum.” Rest in peace, Scarlett.
