8-year-old dies after ATV she was riding lands on top of her – family shares heartbreaking statement
An 8-year-old girl from Texas died during a family trip to Oklahoma after the ATV she was riding overturned and came down on top of her.
Kinsley Williams was killed on June 17 in a crash involving an all-terrain vehicle, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Officials said she had been driving the ATV at high speed and was trying to make a left turn when the vehicle rolled over.
Troopers said Kinsley was thrown from the ATV before it landed on her. She was pronounced dead not long after the crash. Her younger brother had also been riding on the vehicle, but he was not hurt.
Kinsley’s mother, Amber, said the family had spent hours looking for the 8-year-old before authorities were called to the scene at around 10 p.m. local time. The family had traveled from Texas to Oklahoma when the tragedy unfolded.
In the days after her daughter’s death, Amber remembered Kinsley as a joyful, energetic child with a fearless and loving personality. She described her as full of spark, always goofy and silly, and someone who could easily make other people laugh.
Amber also spoke about Kinsley’s kindness. She said her daughter was quick to help others, including people she did not know, and that she wanted to give and help when she saw someone in need. At home, Kinsley helped with her brothers and often tried to lift the mood when others were feeling down.
Her mother described her as outgoing, adventurous, and always eager to bring joy to the people around her.
After the crash, Kinsley’s grandmother, Dawn Manning, created a GoFundMe campaign to help the family with funeral expenses. In the fundraiser, she wrote that Kinsley was only 8 years old and would have turned 9 in August.
Dawn remembered her granddaughter as a bright, adventurous spirit who loved fishing, riding side by sides, dirt bikes, and four-wheelers. She also enjoyed doing projects with her mother and playing Roblox.
The family said Kinsley’s laughter, energy, and generous heart left a mark on everyone who knew her. Her loved ones are now grieving the sudden loss of a child they remember as silly, giving, adventurous, and deeply devoted to her family.
