A seven-year-old girl has slipped into a coma and suffered horrific burns after innocently ‘copying’ a video she saw online. According to her mum Amanda Blakenship, Scarlett Selby watched videos on TikTok and YouTube of people heating up NeeDoh cubes in the microwave and wanted to try it herself. Last October, the girl put the toy in the freezer and heated it up in the microwave for a few seconds, supposedly after seeing other people do it.
Unfortunately, the intended game didn’t go according to plan: the toy exploded in the microwave, flooding Scarlett’s face and chest with the red-hot contents of the cube. Seven-year-old Scarlett allegedly tried out the toy (Kennedy News and Media) As you can imagine, Scarlett’s father Josh Selby was horrified by what happened.
He rushed to his daughter after hearing her “blood chilling scream” and tried to remove the sticky substance from her skin and clothes. Recounting his ordeal, Josh, from Festus, Missouri, explained: ‘She had frozen a NeeDoh cube the night before and the next day showed me it was solid and started playing with it. She stuck it in the microwave. I watched her and saw her touch it to see if it was too hot when she took it out. “It all happened so fast. I heard her scream, what sounded like a blood chilling shriek.
