Madison De La Garza gained international stardom at only six years old when she appeared as Juanita Solis on the show ‘Desperate Housewives.’ However, the actress had a lot of struggles as she navigated stardom off-screen.

She had a lot of scrutiny come her way because of how she looked. As she got older, she began to turn to substances and began to struggle with addiction which impacted a lot of areas of her life negatively. Now, years after she has dealt with those demons, she has faced another heartwrenching lost.

She became known as Eva Longoria’s character Gabrielle Solis’ outspoken daughter. She said while the character was confident on-screen, off-screen she was often shamed for her weight and received shocking comments about her appearance.

She spent her youth reading comments on YouTube videos, and other social media sites which took a massive toll on the young girl. She began to turn to substances to cope.

“I mean, I didn’t go a day without smoking for, I wanna say, five or six years. So, it was a huge, huge issue for me, and I never knew just how much of a problem it was […],” she later admitted.

She struggled with various addictions but revealed that her marijuana dependency was the worst of them. She was in a cycle of substance abuse but at the time she was unable to accept this and kept telling her that it might be worse.

At times her addictions would reach worrying levels and force her to stay in bed all day and avoid the world.

She also had an eating disorder that impacted her throughout her childhood. She said she could not eat without smoking marijuana first, which made her addiction worse.

If she didn’t smoke, she would go days without eating, which she called “very, very dangerous.” Her relationship began getting strained because of her addiction too.

“When I realized it started to affect my relationship with not only my friends but specifically my relationship with my mom, that’s when I knew I had to make a change,” she revealed.

She committed to recovery and when she was 248 days sober, she described her life becoming more “lighter and more colorful” than it had ever been for her. The actress also stated, “Things are easier,” when she talked of a trip to New York, referring to not being held back by her addiction.

She shared, “I wasn’t panicking because I was tied down to a substance. I wasn’t thinking, ‘Oh, what if I can’t use this? What if I don’t have my crutch?’”

She revealed how her friends and family were inspired by her sobriety, “I have a lot of friends who looked to me and said, ‘Hey, I’m gonna go get help, because I saw that you got help, and it changed your life.’”

And, of course, Madison De La Garza drew inspiration from her older half-sister, Demi Lovato. Lovato, who is an international superstar, has been open about their struggle with mental health and addiction. Lovato had a near-death experience with an almost fatal overdose in 2018 which made her take her struggles public.

As for De La Garza, she got a lot of advice from her sister. She shared, “She obviously gives me a lot of great sister advice, but I think it’s more powerful to see her in action. I’ve started to share my personal story and I would have never, ever, ever done that if it wasn’t for her.”

She went on, sayng, “Her honesty, her bravery, and being an open book, I think that is what drives me.” In June 2019,she shared a heartwarming picture of the two sisters online.

On September 6, the actress shared the news of her pregnancy. She posted a picture of herself surrounded by her loved ones as she showed off her baby bump.

In the caption she wrote, “Oh Ryan, how I love you. Thank you for making all of my dreams come true. ♥️ Baby Mitchell 10.24.”

In an interview, big sister Lovato shared, “I’m really excited to have new life come into our family. Family is very valued to me. I value family and friends over success any day.”

But unfortunately, tragedy struck. The child actress lost her baby. She shared with her followers on Instagram on October 27 that she had to have an emergency C-section and her daughter Xiomara did not survive.

In a heart-wrenching caption, she wrote, “[…] Ryan and I held our little girl for the first and last time.”

We are sending Madison De La Garza and her partner our heartfelt condolences as they navigate this major loss. Share this with others to let them know about this sad update.
