Glastonbury 2024: The Legendary Return of Shania Twain’s Voice Following Lyme Disease

Hit song from 1997 by Shania Twain, “Man! “I Feel Like A Woman!” is now one of the most classic pop songs of all time. Despite the devastating effects of Lyme disease on Shania’s voice, her electrifying performance at Glastonbury 2024 showcased her immense talent as a pop icon and hitmaker. She has shown remarkable resilience in the face of adversity.

With a nearly all-female band, the Canadian country singer performed a 14-song set at the Pyramid. The program included songs like “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Come On Over,” and the show ended with the resolute hen-night hymn, “Man! Wow, I Am Energized!

The sound problems that plagued Shania’s set at Glastonbury this year were shared by many other artists. In an appearance on the daytime talk show Loose Women, ex-popstar Coleen Nolan defended Shania, saying, “I was watching Shania thinking she is having major issues as she was constantly pulling the ear piece out and putting it back in […] Since she seemed off-kilter on a few parts, I knew she couldn’t hear me. At least she’s showing that it’s live, I thought to myself.

Fortunately, the most of the sound problems had been resolved by the time Shania’s set-closing song came along. Even while Shania still has a better voice than the majority of us watching at home, her vocal abilities have been critiqued for noticeably diminishing during the ’90s. Despite her faultless verses, Shania failed to capture the famous melodies of the hit due to her mid-range harmony in the pre-chorus and chorus lines.
