The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have just been quietly but thoroughly demoted on the official website of the British Royal Family.
According to British media, the royal website has undergone a series of edits and updates to provide the most accurate information. In the section dedicated to royal members, where photos of each member are pinned so readers can click to see biographies and profiles, Harry and Meghan are still on the list. However, their photos were moved to the bottom of the page, and only on Prince Andrew – who was permanently removed from all royal duties due to a sex scandal.
According to experts, this is how the British Royal Family demoted the Sussex family. As the second child of King Charles III , Harry should be second only to his brother and his wife, Prince William and Kate Middleton . But by giving up responsibility and moving to America to make a living, Harry now has a rank below relatives like Princess Alexandra or the Duke of Gloucester.
However, despite this change, data about Prince Harry still has many errors. The Duke of Sussex’s profile page says he and his wife still receive royal patronage and are dividing their time between England and North America.
The page reads: “As announced in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as senior members of the royal family. They are balancing their time between the UK and North America , continues to honor its obligations to the King, the Commonwealth and their patronage”.
According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, this error “created the feeling that the Sussexes were left out” because other records were updated while theirs were not.
Harry and Meghan currently live with their two children, including Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in a nearly $15 million mansion in Montecito, California. Since moving to the US, the couple has shocked the world with many criticisms of the royal family in projects on Netflix and Spotify, as well as television interviews and autobiographies.
