In an emotional video message at the end of March announcing the news, the future Queen said it had been an ‘incredibly tough couple of months’ for her family but she was ‘well and getting stronger every day’. The rumor mill was set off by William’s decision not to attend a memorial service in Windsor on Tuesday for unknown personal reasons, even though the palace has insisted the princess is still recovering well.
British royal family news reveals that we now know why Prince William canceled his attendance at King Constantine of Greece’s memorial service on February 27 —he had just learned that his wife Kate had cancer.
Princess Catherine announced that she is battling cancer, following a planned abdominal surgery in January. Her doctors discovered the cancer (the palace is not revealing the type) when tests later returned with positive results.
The world was stunned today after a prerecorded video dropped, with Kate calmly explaining that she has cancer and is undergoing treatment.
Princess Kate’s Cancer
William’s last minute cancellation caused concern with social media posters speculating that the reason had to do with Kate’s health.
William’s decision not to attend the memorial service for King Constantine came as a surprise at the time, and the palace did not give a reason why at the time other than that it was “personal.” Later, a subsequent Mother’s Day photo fiasco set the rumor mill into overdrive.
According to the Daily Mail “Kate had only just been diagnosed with cancer ahead of beginning chemotherapy, it was revealed tonight – after Buckingham Palace had initially said the previous month her condition was non-cancerous.”
Kate Is Undergoing Chemotherapy
It is expected that William will now cut back on his official royal to be with his wife and three children as Kate convalesces.
