I FOUND MEN’S HAIR LOTION IN THE BATHROOM WHEN MY HUSBAND IS BALD

Josephine and Charlie had been together for as long as she could remember. Childhood sweethearts who built a life together and welcomed two children, their union seemed perfect, both inside and out.

However, what Josephine could never have imagined was that her fairy tale would come crashing down because of a single bottle of men’s hair lotion.

In telling her story, she explained that her husband’s head was as bald as a billiard ball, so when she came home one day and spotted a bottle in the bathroom labeled “Thick and Full Hair Potion,” she was confused.

She picked up the bottle and showed it to Charlie, who was sitting on the couch changing the TV channel. Once he saw the bottle, his face drained of color faster than a sink full of dishes.

His initial silence was disheartening. “Charlie,” Josephine said, “whose hair lotion is this? Didn’t you ever tell me you were taking a hair growth treatment?”
Staring at the bottle and then at his wife, his jaw clenched, he asked, “Where… where did you get this?” “In the bathroom, where else?” she replied, her temper beginning to boil. “Care to explain?”

“WHAT??” he yelled, blaming the whole thing on Josephine. “So you CHEATED on me? How else could it have gotten here?”

“You’re accusing me of cheating? Charlie?? Come back here and explain,” she yelled, but Charlie just turned away.

The next few days were quiet. Josephine couldn’t help but think about the bottle and how it had gotten there. But then she suddenly remembered seeing their neighbor, an 18-year-old girl named Susie, buy the exact same bottle a few days before. She also remembered that Susie had come by and asked Charlie to help her fix their faucet, so that might have been when she left it at their place. Unsurprisingly, the idea that Charlie had something to do with Susie, although he might be her father, also crossed Josephine’s mind. In order to allay her doubts, she decided to invite Susie and her father to dinner one evening. As they were chatting, she casually mentioned the hair lotion and, to her surprise, Susie’s father said that it was his and that he had left it there when he came to fix something for Charlie.

Seeking answers, Josephine decided to check the cameras the next day. What she noticed was that Susie’s father was visiting them at home way too often and she had no idea. After that, things got even more confusing for her to unravel the truth, so she decided to confront her husband again.“Charlie, you need to explain yourself,” she said, not assuming the reality she was about to face.

Charlie panicked, “He… he was just helping with the repairs.”

“Repairs?” she insisted, her voice tinged with suspicion. “Every time I wasn’t there? Come on, Charlie, be honest with me.”

Running his hand over his head, Charlie’s face colored with concern. He hesitated for a long moment, then said, “Okay, fine. There’s more to say, but please…” He stopped, his voice breaking. “Please, Josephine, you have to believe me… I never meant to hurt you.”

As she looked at him with a pounding heart, Charlie gathered the courage to confess, “I… I had an affair.”Charlie’s confession hit her like a blow. “An affair? With Susie’s father?” His words sounded like a cruel joke.

“You had an affair with a MAN? How could you do this to me… to our family?” she screamed.

“I love you, Josephine. Always have. But…” he tried to explain. “I’ve struggled with my sexuality for years. I didn’t want to admit it, even to myself.” Josephine was devastated. She felt like her whole life was a big lie and that everything she thought she had built with the man she loved didn’t exist.

“So all these years,” she choked out. “You were living a lie?”“It wasn’t a lie, Josephine,” he argued. “I love you and I love our children. It’s just… there was this part of me that I couldn’t ignore anymore.”

“And you decided to do this to Susie’s father??” she sneered, her fury rising with the pain. “How could you betray me like that?”

“It wasn’t planned,” he hesitated. “We just… connected. He’s lonely, Josephine. His wife died a few years ago, and…” Josephine didn’t have the strength to argue or accept reality, so she told Charlie to leave. Her footsteps faded into the room upstairs, and she curled up on the couch, crying her eyes out.

A few days passed, and Josephine received a message from Susie’s father. He wanted to meet her and talk to her. She answered with a deep breath, “Okay, I’ll be there,” a wave of unease twisted her stomach.
