Which Doctor Is Fake?

At first, nothing about the three men seems suspicious. Each one is dressed in a white coat, and they are standing in what looks like a hospital hallway. Their appearance suggests they belong in a medical setting, especially because all three are shown with items normally associated with doctors.

Doctor A has a stethoscope resting around his neck while his hands are tucked into the pockets of his coat. Doctor B stands in the middle with a confident pose, arms crossed, and what appears to be a stethoscope hanging from his neck. Doctor C holds a clipboard and also has a stethoscope, a detail that fits the image of medical staff.

But the answer is not hidden in their posture, clothing, or the clipboard. The important clue is much smaller, and it is easy to overlook if you only glance at the picture. The detail to check is Doctor B’s stethoscope, especially when it is compared with the ones worn by Doctors A and C.

Doctor B is the fake doctor. His stethoscope is missing the earpieces, which means it could not actually be used. A real stethoscope needs two earpieces so a doctor can listen to a patient’s heartbeat and breathing. Without that part, the instrument is incomplete.

Doctors A and C both have complete stethoscopes, but Doctor B’s equipment gives him away. He may look professional at first, yet the missing earpieces reveal that he is only pretending to be a doctor.
