Prince William joined his father, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla at an event in Portsmouth, England, commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Princess Kate was noticeably absent from the engagement as she has been out of the public eye since the end of December.

It was later revealed that she had been undergoing cancer treatment, which was keeping her out of commission from her official duties.

In a video posted to X (formerly known as Twitter), William is seen being asked a question by a veteran in a wheelchair. The veteran asks William whether his wife “is getting any better.”

The 41-year-old Prince of Wales immediately responds with, “Yes, she’d love to be here today.”

William then took time to share how Kate’s grandmother had military service of her own. He said, “I was reminding everyone her grandmother served at Bletchley Park.” Adding, “So she had quite a few in common with some of the ladies here who were at Bletchley.”

In March this year, after months of not being seen in the public. Kate Middleton shared a video on social media in which she announced her cancer diagnosis.

Prince William’s 80th anniversary of the D-Day outing was scheduled ahead of the family’s annual Trooping the Colour military event in June. While Kate Middleton was appointed the Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2022, it is said that she will not be doing the Colonel’s Review this year.

A source has revealed that Kate Middleton will not be coming back to the public eye or her official duties until her doctors clear her for it, and there has been no word on when that could be.

“Princess Kate is still focusing on her recovery but she has been spotted running errands with her family,” the source shared. “Her priority remains on her young children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. She is being fully supported by Prince William, who has been devoted to her recuperation. Her mother and siblings have also been dedicated to her recovery and other members of the family have stepped in to support her young family.”

While she is being kept updated with her patronages, she is not up to resuming her duties yet.

“While Kate was ‘kept up to date’ on the release of the Royal Foundation Business Task Force for Early Childhood report, which was released last week, there is no indication she is returning to work imminently,” the source said. “She will only return to work when her medical team gives the go ahead.”
